Alice and the Rabbit (III). Colouring Clothes with Copic Markers

Hi there!

Today I come with last tutorial on the Alice and the Rabbit Ditzie Digi Designs stamp, using Copic Markers, like the ones you can find at That Craft Place.

 When colouring clothes I always start colouring the shadows with my darker colour, in this case B05. If there is folds or ruffles I will colour where the fabric is deeper or underneath the fold. 

Then, I extend the shadow with my second darker colour, B02 in this example. And also I shade other parts that  have something above or are further away.

Then with a lighter colour, I start blending the shadows into the rest of the dress, excluding the parts that have the greatest volume or are closer to the front.

Finally, I colour the rest with my lighter colour, B000, blending it with the previous one.

All this steps can be repeated again if you want to increase the colour intensity.

Here I'm, back with Alice and the Rabbit. Today I'm going to colour her skin. You can find this gorgeous image in Ditzie Digi Designs Etsy shop, and I will colour it with Copic Markers, like the ones you can find at That Craft Place.

When colouring skin, I normally start by colouring all of it with my lightest colour, in this case E000.

Then I normally use my darkest shadow colour, in this case E21, in the places where I want the shadows to be.

Sometimes, when I want the image to have more volume or greater shadows, I use E04 to make small deeper shadows.

Now, this step I would normally do it latter, but I put it in here to take off some steps in this tutorial.  So, I colour with R22 the bits of the lips that will not have the light point.

And now, I colour with R20 the blush and blend the R22 on the lips.

Then, I use my intermediate colour, that is E00, to blend the shadows into the lighter colour. 

And finally, I use the lighter colour again to properly blend all together. 

All this steps can be repeated again if you want to increase the colour intensity.

Today I came with something new. A tutorial, that is right! It is Copic colouring, but is new, because I have never done one before. In the process of doing it, I have already realised of things that I can improve the next time, but if you have any comments, please! don't hesitate on making them!

For doing this step by step colouring I used one of the new and fun digital images from Ditzie Digi Designs, Alice and the Rabbit, and Copic Markers, like the ones you can find at That Craft Place.

For colouring this image I will consider that the light is coming from the top right corner.

When colouring hair, I always start with my lightest colour, in this case E50, trying to make thin strokes with the brush tip in the direction of the hair. I normally colour all over the hair, excluding the parts where I want the light to be.

Next, I use the following light colour and repeat the same process.

Then, I take the next colour, in this case E55, and repeat the process mainly focusing on the parts where I want the shadows to be.

And then, I use my darkest colour, E57, to colour the shadows and parts of the hair that are behind or I want to highlight (like the curl in the right side).

Now that I have already mapped all my colours in the hair, I repeat all the process. So, first, I colour all the hair with my lighter colour, E50, this time I will cover the light areas that I excluded the first time. I try to make sure that I go all aver the hair, this way I will blend all the first layer together and the hair will give a sensation of uniformity.

Now I go back with my second lighter, E53, and slightly extend the area that I had coloured before. Remember to always use light strokes in the direction of the hair growth. 

Finally, I apply my darkest colours, E55 and E57, in the area where I want the shadows to be. 

And this is how Alice hair looks like.

Hi there!

Yesterday I was presented as a member of the DT for the Copic marker Spain blog!!

You can imagine how happy I am! In there, is going to be a monthly challenge, tutorials and lots of inspirational works. This month's challenge is Anything Goes, and there is a great price, so if you are not playing yet, what are you waiting for?!

For my presentation on the blog, I decided to make a card with everything that I like most, that is stitches, crochet, buttons, ribbons and lace.
