Hi there!

Last week while helping my son find some inspiration to make a collage for his school homework and... an idea grew on my head. I had never used magazine cut outs in my art journal before, but... I decided to give it a try and this is what came out.

What you think??

In this spread I used:
Old book pages, gesso, watercolor effect crayons,  white gel marker,  swirl stamps and black ink pad.
Magazine cut outs, printed quote, posca pens, medium gel, PITT black markers.

Getting Started with Chrismas Cards

Hi there!

This year, the beginning of the school year has been hectic. I haven't done any colouring, crafting or anything. The other night I saw a card from the fantastic Deborah Deruyck at Deborah's Shining Cards, and I thought I'll try to scrap lift her, to see if I get into the mood of Xmas cards. This is what came out. I just need to remember that for some reason I don't like golden foiled paper.

Nuff said =P

Sweet Rose Day

Hi there!

I've had some beautiful Paperbabe Stamps sitting around during the summer for lack of time to play with them. This weekend I finally managed to have some crafty time to make this simple card, and apart from new stamps I also used some new techniques (new to me) that I was looking forward to try (white embossing and distress watercoloring).

Hope you like it =)

Distress inks, washi tape.

Personalised Sandwich Containers for going back to School

Hi there!

Today I want to show you the personalised sandwich containers that I painted for my kids. We had never used them before, but thinking about reducing the amount of residues that we produce in the day to day, it seemed a good idea to use them. The problem, the difference in price between the plain ones and the ones with TV characters was for times the price of the former's, so... I told them I would craft they for them. If you are interested on the materials and layers that I used you can find the explanation further down.
Now, I'm not sure how long is this going to last... but so far it seems resistant and waterproof.

Hope you like it.

Rubber stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie.

Clear stamp from Penny Black with Mo's Digital Pencil images.

Now, for crafting this plastic containers,
first I used paper sand to prepare the area where I was going to paint.
Then, I used masking tape to protect the borders and added some layers of gesso.
I used Memento Luxe black ink for stamping my images on the background.
I realised that permanent ink would have been better but
I wanted to try with the supplies that I had in my stash.
Then I used Poska pens to colour the backgrounds, leaving the stamps in white.
Then I covered everything with a layer of gel medium.
It is now a good idea to use Copic markers on top of gesso because the tips absorb it and get ruined, but they are ok to use on top of gel medium, so now I am ready to colour my images.
Finally I covered everything with gel medium again to protect them
from the water and the rubbing that they will endure in their day to day use.

We'll see how long they last.,.

Mermaid Secrets Art Journal

 Hi there!

Today I want to show the journal page that I've been working on during the summer. Yes, it took me all that time =P. I have to say that I really enjoyed working on it, but is not easy for me to do things while the kids are on holiday and wanting to help, he, he.

However, I have to say that I did this background using my kids solid poster paints, and that I did it alongside my son, that did his own version with a different background, which I will be showing at the end.

Hope you like it =)

In this spread: solid poster paints, gesso, PITT markers, stencils, white gel pen,
transparent gloss texture past, izink pigment, glitter glue and glossy accents.

Digital stamp by Aurora Wings.
